What is Form I-765 utilized for?
Certain foreign nationals, who are qualified to operate in the United States, use Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, to request authorization to work. When hiring employees, U.S. companies need to ask for employment evidence of the employee's right to work.
U.S. residents and lawful long-term homeowners (permit holders) may work without asking for unique authorization. Some nonimmigrants, short-term in nature, may be given work authorization upon request from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). However, not all nonimmigrants are eligible for this advantage. Individuals granted work permission with an approved Form I-765 get an employment permission file.
